Intro - Hello, Leaders!

This is the first of my blog series for Enlightening Leadership, so I thought I would introduce myself and tell you the purpose of my communication.

So, hello! I am Kelly Hastings, a fervent supporter of public education because I believe that education is the ultimate leveling field for the amazing people in our country (honestly, across the world). I have dedicated over 25 years to supporting public education - as a parent, PTA member, teacher, administrator, mentor, and now Leadership Coach.

My “Why?”

While our educational system seems to be in the middle of a lot of nonsense right now, our kids deserve the best educators and the best experience they can get.

We need to make their learning more relevant for them; this will help with the behavior issues we’re seeing now.

Nothing will improve, however, if we don’t focus on ensuring our kids belong in our classrooms and that starts with relationships.

I started this LLC (business) because, while I officially retired, my heart is still in public education, and I want to help make a difference.

I’ll be supporting campus and district leaders—which includes teacher leaders - through Leadership Coaching. Coaching can improve leadership; even ChatGPT says so!

Leadership Coaching Can Help Leaders:

• Improve skill development

• Set goals and hold themselves accountable

• Enhance performance

• Understand the importance of collaborative decision-making

• Recognize the power of motivating others and increasing influence

Overall, leadership coaching can bring significant leadership growth—which benefits the people that leader influences.

The Wallace Foundation has found that leaders have as much impact on student achievement as teachers do.
